About Us

Hi guys! Welcome to The Paleo Plunge! Our names are Kristy, Flowers and Becca and we are here to change your life. Okay who are we kidding? We are just two girls and a guy endeavoring to make better nutritional choices that don't taste like crap! Plain and simple. No guarantees of original recipes. We just wanted a place that we could find and share all of our favorite Paleo recipes. We'll give credit to whom it is due but we're not whipping out the MLA format handbook, well maybe when we go global. We hope you enjoy the compilation of recipes that we find along the way. It will be all sorts of fun!

Join us and take the plunge!

Meet our bloggers:

Kristy

Hi there... I'm Kristy and these are my two beautiful girls Sasha and Sage. I'm a Mom, a wife, I have a full time career, and my husband and I are the proud owners of CrossFit Anaheim. I am also a level 1 certified CrossFit trainer and run classes a couple nights a week. www.CrossFitAnaheim.com

I can honsetly say that after our first paleo challenge, I've been hooked! I have more energy, I sleep better, my times in my WOD's have improved, and the 10lbs I lost in the first couple of weeks during the challenge were only an added bonus. My handsome husband Evan has been addicted to CrossFit for over 5 years, he is an amazing trainer/athlete and is one of those people who eats to live...yep, he can live off of boiled chicken, raw almonds, and an apple five times a day, everyday... Who does that? Anyway, I on the other hand may be a little different....ok who am I kidding I live to eat, so why not do it paleo style!

Am I not the cutest?!
Becca

Hello blogosphere! My name is Becca. Welcome to our little blog. Just a little bit about myself...I am a graduating senior at Cal State Fullerton, majoring in Health Science. Eventually, I plan to go to occupational therapy school and work in early intervention for autism. But for now, I am busy working, going to school, CrossFitting, and trying to get my diet together. One thing you will probably learn throughout this blog is I LOVE sugar. It has controlled my diet for years. With the help of the Paleo diet, I have mostly been able to kick the craving. I still eat too much fruit but it's better than a hot fudge sundae!

If you're considering trying Paleo, just know that it gets better. It will be really hard but the payoff will be worth it. From one carbaholic to another...it's possible! My before and after pictures will make it on here eventually and I hope they will inspire you to make the change. Take the plunge! The water gets warmer I promise. Until it does, just comfort yourself with some bacon.

Flowers

You can call me Rob but everyone at CrossFit Anaheim and at work calls me “Flowers” (don’t ask).   I am a high school science teacher and I joined CrossFit Anaheim (www.crossfitanaheim.com) in December of 2011.  About a month into CrossFit, CrossFit Anaheim (CFA) gave us a Paleo challenge: Eat Paleo for 30 days! First, I was apprehensive but committed to do the challenge.

Admittedly, the first week was tough primarily because I was still struggling with how to cook within the boundaries of Paleo. Along the way, I found it was super easy to cook within the simple boundaries of Paleo.  Simple rules makes for easy cooking.  You don’t need to be a chef to cook Paleo.  Seriously, if I can do you, then you can do it.

By the way, I am obsessed with BACON.  Yes, I love bacon!  You’ll notice I add bacon (uncured) to just about every recipe.  Bacon makes the world go around.

Most recipes that I post have to meet some basic criteria.
1) I am not a chef so cooking has to be simple,
2) Prep time must be minimal (I can’t stand tedious work), and
3) Must be delicious

Along the way, I have tweaked about every recipe that I have found: added, subtracted and/or substituted ingredients.   I’ve learned to experiment with recipes, mostly with success.  Most of all, I have had fun sharing recipes with my fellow CrossFit Anaheim peeps.
